about MENINGIOMA consortium

The Consortium is comprised of 4 DKFZ sites and 5 Interdisciplinary Oncology Centers of Excellence, with 17 researchers in the areas of Neurosurgery, Neuroncology, Neuropathology Tumor Biology, Engineering, and Bio-informatics. The Consortium focuses on three pillars:

  • The first is the development of novel tests (biomarkers) to reliably identify which meningiomas will behave aggressively and which will not.
  • The second is the development of cell models that allow for the study of the biological mechanisms responsible for the aggressive behavior of meningioma cells.
  • The third is the development of novel therapeutic approaches based on a more profound characterization of these tumors and tumor-specific aberrations.
